Hi – Welcome !

By Benoit on 7 September 2018

Wait, wait, there’s only a couple of articles here…?

Well, yes. But we have a good excuse : we’re French. Groww has been active for more than 3 years now, focusing on making an app that’s useful to our users and fun to use. We did that at home – meaning in France (and french-speaking territories, of course), thus producing all our content (the plant encyclopedia – an extensive database of more than 1500 entries – and all our blog posts) in French only, so far.

We spent a couple of months translating the plant encyclopedia  (a tough job, mind you) – and now we’re just ready to launch our app in english. Once that’s done, we’re going to add articles in both languages on a regular basis, and translate from French to English some of the best (or most read) articles, one after the other.

So come back from time to time – and enjoy using our app !

    Jam and poetry

A nice piece written in 1936, found pinned to the wall in a friend’s kitchen, which makes a lot of sense today – we share: The day the economist visited us, was the day we were making our blackcurrant, currant and raspberry jams. The economist immediately began …

    Growing redcurrant from cuttings

Today, as we walked our way back from the market (our vegetable garden provides all our veggies these days, but sometimes, you know, when you live in the North of France, you crave for peaches and apricots!) we went through a public park, where the city council has planted fruit trees, such as apple, pear, …

Killing weed with salt? The bogus good idea.

“Can I use salt to kill weed?” “Sure, it’s the perfect organic weed killer! It’s all over the internet.” It’s not costly, and “sounds” natural – yeah, salt is natural, right? So it shouldn’t really harm the environment. Now, really? We had heard of using vinegar in the garden, now salt – what the dickens, …
